Sculpture religieuse Vierge ancienne en bois sculpté, Immaculée Conception
Grande sculpture religieuse d'art populaire, en bois, ancienne et unique, entièrement sculptée à la main, travail Alpin, Austro-Tyrolien, circa 1900-1930. Figurant la Sainte Vierge Marie, debout reposant sur un croissant de lune écrasant un serpent. Cette iconographie correspond traditionnellement à l’Immaculée Conception, thème répandu au XIXe et du début du XXe siècle. Figure au visage doux et cheveux libres, portant un drapé ample et fluide. La surface du bois, probablement du tilleul, est teintée et polie, offrant aujourd’hui une patine chaude et satinée entre le marron sombre et le rouge bordeaux. Le dessous du socle présente des traces d’outils et de travail ancien et des inscription probablement postérieures illisibles.
Haute de 44cm, largeur max 17cm, profondeur max 14cm. Bel état général on notera une fissure naturelle du bois partant du côté de la tête, descendant sur le torse et l’abdomen puis se poursuivant sous la manche jusqu’au côté du socle. L’extrémité d’une main présente un petit manque et quelques traces d’usure sont visibles sur l'autre main et le socle. Ces défauts restent discrets et cohérents avec l’âge et l’usage de la pièce. Environ 800-900gr.

Large, unique, antique folk art religious sculpture in wood, entirely hand-carved, Alpine or Austro-Tyrolean, circa 1900-1930. It depicts the Virgin Mary standing, resting on a crescent moon crushing a serpent. This iconography traditionally corresponds to the Immaculate Conception, a popular theme in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The figure has a gentle face and flowing hair, draped in ample, flowing fabric. The wood, likely linden, is stained and polished, now displaying a warm, satiny patina ranging from dark brown to burgundy. The underside of the base shows traces of tools and previous work, as well as illegible inscriptions, probably later additions.
Height: 44 cm, maximum width: 17 cm, maximum depth: 14 cm. In good overall condition, a natural crack in the wood runs from the side of the head, down the torso and abdomen, and then under the sleeve to the side of the base. The tip of one hand has a small chip, and some signs of wear are visible on the other hand and the base. These flaws are minor and consistent with the age and use of the piece. Approximately 800-900 grams.
