Petite boite globe Africaine vintage laiton/bronze doré Bénin Dahomey

Rare jolie petite boite globe en laiton ou bronze doré martelé, sur pied rond, couvercle surmonté d'un oiseau stylisé en bronze doré. Fabrication artisanale vintage Africaine, Dahomey, Bénin à priori, années 40-60.  Objet décoratif ou rituel, dans le cadre domestique, on note qu'il est gravé d’une petite croix chrétienne discrète à l’arrière du couvercle qui renforce la possibilité qu'il s'agisse d'un objet rituel, mais peut aussi être attribué à une marque d'appartenance ou du fabricant. Il s'agit probablement d'un objet fabriqué dans un cadre privé, un cadeau par exemple, plutôt qu'un objet destiné à l'exportation touristique. Boite en forme de globe lisse décoré de frises de pointillés martelés, creux s'ouvrant au centre, chaque moitié du globe constituant le corps et le couvercle. Ce dernier est orné d'une prise figurant un oiseau avec des pattes assez longues, et un long bec, peut être un échassier. La boite est fixée sur un socle rond légèrement bombé, décoré d'une frise de rayures martelées. Le pied est fixé par une tige en métal traversant la base de la boite, elle était originellement soudée à l’intérieur mais est à présent dé-soudée, ce n'est pas gênant si la boite est posée au ras du pied, (je recommande de la laisser ainsi ou de la faire ressouder) mais elle dépassera à l'intérieur, un peu plus instable si on décide de l'allonger. Très joli objet de collection pour amateur d'objets Ethniques Africains.
 
13,5cm de hauteur max, bas seul 4,5cm de hauteur, 8,7cm de diamètre max. Très bel état général en dehors de la tige dessoudée l'extérieur est propre le métal est brillant, le rebord inférieur du couvercle est légèrement déformé par le temps et les usages, pas visible quand fermé, peu gênant. Environ 300gr. 
 
🇬🇧  Small vintage African globe box brass/gilded bronze Benin Dahomey
 
Rare pretty little globe box in hammered brass or gilt bronze, on a round foot, lid topped with a stylized bird in gilt bronze. Vintage African handcrafted, Dahomey, Benin, probably 1940s-1960s. Decorative or ritual object, in the domestic setting, we note that it is engraved with a small discreet Christian cross on the back of the lid which reinforces the possibility that it is a ritual object, but can also be attributed to a mark of belonging or of the manufacturer. It is probably an object made in a private setting, a gift for example, rather than an object intended for tourist export. Box in the shape of a smooth globe decorated with friezes of hammered dots, hollow opening in the center, each half of the globe constituting the body and the lid. The latter is decorated with a grip representing a bird with fairly long legs, and a long beak, perhaps a wader. The box is fixed on a slightly domed round base, decorated with a frieze of hammered stripes. The foot is fixed by a metal rod crossing the base of the box, it was originally welded inside but is now un-welded, this is not a problem if the box is placed flush with the foot, (I recommend leaving it like this or having it re-welded) but it will protrude inside, a little more unstable if you decide to lengthen it. Very nice collector's item for lovers of African Ethnic objects. 
 
13.5cm max height, bottom only 4.5cm height, 8.7cm max diameter. Very good general condition apart from the unsoldered rod the exterior is clean the metal is shiny, the lower edge of the lid is slightly deformed by time and use, not visible when closed, not very annoying. Approximately 300gr.
