2,160kg.

🇬🇧 Large antique porcelain cache-pot with bird and rococo decoration, 19th century

A magnificent, large decorative glazed porcelain cache-pot; unsigned, of French origin—likely Paris porcelain. Dating from the late 19th century (Napoleon III period, circa 1870–1890). It features a handsome, ample shape raised on a pedestal foot, with a deep grey ground. It is adorned with rich, hand-painted and enameled polychrome decoration in relief, executed in the Rocaille style: a large bird in flight, floral garlands, knotted ribbons, foliage, Rocaille motifs, and gilded highlights. The design extends across the body and contrasts strikingly with the grey background. The upper rim and foot are accented with a broad gilded band.

Dimensions: 18 cm height (body only), 20.5 cm total height (including base), 22 cm rim diameter, and approximately 23–24 cm maximum diameter. Very good overall condition considering its age. There are numerous small chips to the enamel—varying in visibility—within the decoration and along the gilded band (where the enamel is largely missing). Gilding shows varying degrees of wear, with some areas—particularly on the sides and foot—exhibiting significant rubbing. There is also a star-shaped impact mark on the underside and an X-shaped impact mark on the interior, near the base on one side; these flaws are invisible from the outside and do not compromise structural integrity. Overall, the piece remains highly harmonious, rare, and exceptionally decorative. Weight: 2.160 kg.
